Could you please tell me at what age the gouldian finch can begin to feed for itself?

Hi Marcus,

I have observed that it takes at least two weeks after fledging for the juveniles to be able to eat completely on their own. I always left mine with their parents for three weeks after fledging just to be sure they would be alright on their own unless I saw signs of parental aggression due to the male parent's desire to keep the juveniles from returning to the nest. I found some males wanted to get started breeding before I separated them from their first or second hatched.

I hope this helps, Jeanie
