gouldian finch nails
What tips do you have for keeping gouldian finch nails healthy (and short) and how do I trim them if I still have to?
Thank you for your help.
Trimming is needed when the nails begin to curl. The easiest way to trim them is to have two people, one to hold the bird, the other to stretch out the toes. It helps to see the quick if the nail that is being cut can be back lighted. Trim just the littlest amount to lessen the curling nail. I use the ordinary clippers that some men will carry on a key chain. You don't need special clippers, Just go slowly and have some corn starch close by. We all sometimes cut the quick by accident and the corn starch will hasten clotting should you need it. Good Luck!!
