How to produce a RED- Head Dilute
I have an Orange -head dilute male. I would like to acquire a red head male dilute. Can I obtain one if I breed my Orange head dilute male with a Red- head normal female ?
The mutation that causes a dilute to be a dilute creates the bird's inability to absorb enough black pigment in the feather color process to make the color black. I know that is not what you asked me, but with dilutes it isn't a matter of dominant and recessive genes. It's that different mutations work at different places while pigment is being produced so there are a lot of different ways the colors can turn out.
I really can't say yes or no. My guess would be yes, at least that combination logically would have the best chance, but I don't know.
