Mixing Lady Gouldian Finch populations in their cages:

I don't know what mix of gouldian Finch sexes I can combine in cages and keep them healthy and happy, so I would like to know:

1) can a mature pair of lady gouldian finches be put in the same cage as another male?

2) can two males be with a female lady gouldian finch?

3) can you cage male lady gouldians together?

Thanks for your reply!

#1. Putting an established pair and a male together can work, but there may be issues when mating time comes around.
#2. Again, there may be issues when mating instincts are active.
#3. Yes, you can have all males together, provided that you don't have a bully in the bunch. Red headed males are dominant over black heads and yellow heads, so limit the # of red heads to 30% to avoid aggression from the red heads. Hope this Helps, Jeanie

wow! that was really helpful, thanks!

I had no idea this could be so big an issue, so now I'll really consider the risks of mixing them up!
