Mother left father to raise chicks

Red head male orange head female. Both sat on eggs and cared for babies for 7 days. Then mother left nest and father to care for chicks. Is this normal for the male to be a stay at home dad? Unionguy3800@aol.cyoung is thehen diesom

I think Gouldians are individuals and they don't all think or behave in the same way, just like people. Gouldian dads help raise their chicks and I believe the males are capable of taking over feeding. It's hard to say, but there is no alternative except hand feeding them yourself. I would be sure they are all warm enough so the male won't have to use all of his energy keeping his own temperature up. That way he'll have a bit more energy for feeding his chicks.
Hope this helps, Jeanie
