Gouldians in colony with one pair of societies too. The Goulds are on their second clutch. Other Goulds and the societies appear to be going in and out of the nest now. Not sure if the chicks will be safe. Is this normal?
Yes, when colony breeding I found that things got all mixed up as you described. Societies are known as the mice of the bird world because all they ever want is to have a nest, sit on eggs or feed babies. They have been known to take over Gouldian nests and chicks. I don't know if the chicks will be safe. If they are being fed and kept warm, I would think they would develop normally no matter who is parenting them.
Hope this helps, Jeanie
