Why is my red face male getting white feathers?

My red face male is getting white feathers on his face. Is this normal?

Hi Carol, If they look like tiny pieces of rice or drinking straws, your bird is molting and there is a white sheath that protects the feather when it is brand new. They are called pin feathers and are made of chitin. They will break off pretty quickly. I don't know what else it could be.
Best Wishes, Jeanie

Thanks so much for your quick reply. That is exactly what it looks like. I have only had the pair for a little over a month And they are my first. I'm so glad he is ok. Your site has been so helpful. Thanks again.
