will the parents abandon an entire clutch of eggs

The parents seem to have abandoned an entire clutch on or about the time they should have hatched. Is this normal?

Hi Laurie, Lady Gouldians are known often to do this when their eggs are not fertile. I use a penlight flashlight to candle the eggs about ten days after they have all been laid. If the eggs are fertile, you will see lots of little red blood vessels inside the shells. If no blood vessels, toss the eggs and let them try again.
Best Wishes, Jeanie
